About Us
Sri Veera Anjaneya, along with Sri Amruthavalli Thayar and Sri Adhikeshava Perumal, resides in the sacred temple located in the heart of the town of Arakkonam, also known as Shatkona Puri (the city of six angles) or Aruntamizhkundram.
This temple is approximately 800 years old. The main hall of the temple is supported by more than 45 intricately carved granite pillars. All the rituals and daily worship here are performed according to the Sri Vaikhanasa Bhagavath Shastra tradition.
Deities of Temple
Sanctum
Sri Veera Anjaneyar Sannathi
Sri Veera Anjaneya's sanctum faces east, with the deity facing north, and he is revered as one of the most ancient and primary deities in the temple. Devotees regard him as a very powerful form of Hanuman.
It is believed that offering a coconut (mattai thengai) to Lord Sri Veera Anjaneya and circumbulating the temple for one mandala (48 days) will help fulfill various desires, such as the blessings of children, marriage, education, career, financial solutions, health, and business success.
Sri Amruthavalli Thayar Sannathi
Sri Amruthavalli Thayar is located in her own sanctum, where she faces south and is depicted in a seated Padmasana (lotus) posture. For those devotees who cannot travel to Thirukkadigai Kshetram (Sholingur) to worship her, the elders of this temple have established her presence here, making it convenient for devotees to offer their prayers.
Sri Adhikeshava Perumal Sannathi
Along with Sri Devi Boodevi, Sri Adhikeshava Perumal is enshrined facing south in a divine posture, holding a Conch Shell (Sangu), Discus (Chakra), and Mace (Gada)embodying the form of a divine protector. He reveals himself to devotees as a source of blessings, bestowing upon them the wishes they seek.
Sri Garudalwar Sannathi
Opposite the Perumal's shrine is the Sannathi of Sri Garuda Bhagwan, known as Periyathiruvadi. He has manifested in the form of a devotee with folded hands, offering his respects to the Lord.
Sri Thumbikai Alwar (Vinayakar Sannathi)
In this temple, Lord Vinayaka faces the east and is enshrined in a special form known as "Tumbikkai Azhwar," adorned with a sacred "thirunamam" and a right-spiraling green stone. Since this Vinayaka is installed alongside a peepal tree (arasa maram) and serpent stones (naga kals), devotees believe that circumambulating all three together ensures success in all endeavors.
It is a well-known belief among devotees that couples seeking to have children can achieve this blessing by circumambulating the three deities together during the early morning hours (between 5:30 and 6:30 AM) for 48 consecutive days (one mandala). By doing this, it is believed that they will be blessed with the boon of parenthood.
Features
Sacred Tree (Sthala Vriksha)
The Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) is represented by an ancient tree that is over 100 years old. This peepal tree, known as the king of trees, stands majestically and widely. Under this tree, serpent stones and Vinayaka are enshrined, which is a distinctive feature of this temple.
Sacred Well
The water from the well in this temple, which is approximately 800 years old, is considered pure sacred water. Remarkably, this well has remained replenished with holy water for all these years. A unique feature of this well is that it embodies the form of Lord Perumal, depicted as a tortoise (Kurmam).
Madapalli (Temple Kitchen)
In this temple, all the offerings made to Lord Perumal are exclusively prepared in the temple's kitchen (madappalli). No prasadam or sweets brought from outside are accepted as neivedyam (offering). Additionally, distributing any external offerings within the temple is not permitted.
Items suitable for offerings to the Lord: Coconut, Special fruits, Jaggery, Poha (flattened rice), Pomelo, Brown Sugar, Betel leaf and nut.
Utsavar (Processional Deity)
"The idol of the Utsava (processional deity) was created approximately one hundred years ago."
